The Jil Sander collection designed by Raf Simons, was one of Milan's standouts this season. Simons based his collection around several fitted white cotton tees paired with long, flowing crisp silk skirts slit up the sides. He also included printed and striped gowns, as well as a pair of trousers, but in all cases the hemlines brushed the floor, and the silhouette was long, loose and femininely gathered at the waist. As a colour fanatic, I love that one of the biggest trends coming out of the shows in Milan, is bold colour. Gucci hinted at this new trend with a collection full of bright oranges, purples and greens and Prada, who is renowned for her minimalist view on fashion, painted her collection in orange, violet, royal blue and green. Another big trend is the changing hemline with designers choosing longer skirts instead of the mini. So for now, the Jil Sander message is clear: do not be afraid of bold colour combinations to create a unique twist on basics!
